Frequently Asked Questions

We know choosing the right mobility scooter battery can sometimes be difficult.  At Batteries Direct we pride ourselves on making the whole process quick and easy.  In the past, our customers have explained how they struggled to find the correct battery or charger and how they should get the most out of their battery.

Q - How do I know if my existing batteries need replacing?

Normally your product will start to underperform; it may run out of battery quicker than previously or not reach the speed it should.

Q - How do I look after my battery to ensure the longest life possible?

Keep the battery and the terminals clean. Ensure connections to the terminals are tight and not obscured by any other objects. Never store your batteries in particularly hot or cold environments.

Q - How long should I charge the batteries for?

Charge the batteries for at least 12 hours where possible and re-charge as soon as possible once the product has been used. Batteries that are stored with limited charge will significantly shorten the life expectancy.

Q - What type of batteries does my scooter need?

If you follow our website it will guide you to the correct battery for the make and model of your scooter, however if you are unsure please contact us either via phone or email and we will be more than happy to help you select the correct battery.

Q - How long should I expect my new batteries to last?

We anticipate that batteries should last 2-3 years however this will vary greatly on how well they are looked after, frequency of usage, where they are stored and how long you charge them for.

Q - Are the new batteries easy to install?

It will depend on the product you are installing them to. It is worth bearing in mind that the batteries can be heavy and you will need some basic tools to fit them. If you are in any doubt we offer a full engineered service within which our trained engineers will visit your home and install them for you. Please see further details of this on our “Engineered Delivery” Tab.
